WGSDCA Breeders Code of Ethics
The breeder’s code serves as the minimum standard in the
breeding and sales of dogs, remembering that the focus should
be dedicated to the preservation of the white coated German
Shepherd Dog and not the producing of puppies for sale.
1. Maintain clean kennels and good health, including proper veterinary care and socialization of all
my dogs.
2. Encourage buyers to have a vet examination and a return policy (48 hours) for dogs of unsound
temperament or with health problems.
3. Refuse stud service to any bitch in poor health, of unsound temperament, or too young (no
younger than 18 months and hip x-rayed or OFA pre-limed), or lacking the necessary breed
characteristics as set forth in the white German Shepherd Dog standard
4. Allow a repeat service if the bitch fails to conceive. A mutually agreed upon contract between the stud owner and the bitch owner should be available concerning the stud fee and the return of a fee.
5. Breed my bitch only when I have a definite goal for improvement in mind, and never permitting them to produce three consecutive litters, unless there are extreme and unusual circumstances, which would dictate such breeding.
6. Accept responsibility for the dogs I sell throughout their life.
7. All sales of dogs should have a sales contract for each party that includes health guarantee (including any known genetic defects), hip & elbow guarantee, and limited registration of pets.
8. Provide each buyer with a three-generation pedigree, copy of any ancestors’ OFA or Penn Hip record, health record, and registration certificate with limited registration on pet puppies/dogs sold.
9. Provide a copy of the White German Shepherd Dog Breed Standard to each buyer.
10. Encourage new owners to attend some kind of training class and give them a complimentary membership to the White German Shepherd Dog Club of America.
11. Refuse to sell to or recommend breeders who do not conform to the standard or to the ideals expressed in this code.
Your membership in the breeders code maybe terminated by board action.
